The above picture of the old band stand in the park was loaned to us by Alyn Bichard. He found it in an old trunk that belonged to his grandma.
We are standing on the north side looking east. This picture was an old post card posted marked 1915. The cement steps going down to the river are right in front of the building, but they were not built until 1936 by the PWA.
I remember that building well, as it stood until after WWII. It fell into bad repair and it was demolished in the 1950’s or 60’s.
The picture was probably taken on a Sunday afternoon, as there seems to be a picnic under that big oak. That big oak and the other one on the right are still there after easily one hundred years.
