Herbert E. “Herb” Stevenson age 84, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 3, 1931 in Woodburn, Indiana, the son of Theodore “Ted” and Dolly M. (Gustin) Stevenson.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by sons: Joseph Dean Stevenson and infant, Randall Alan Stevenson; brother: William “Tiny” Stevenson; and sister: Gloria Davis.
Herb graduated from Antwerp High School and the Ohio State University with a degree in Agronomy. He continued to be a loyal Ohio State Basketball and Football fan, as well as the Cincinnati Reds. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1988 from the State of Ohio, where he worked for 32 years with the Bureau of Employment Service in the Xenia office and managing the Greenville Ohio office. He loved fishing and gardening, especially planting trees. He was also an avid reader and was a supporter of the Cedarville United Methodist Church.
Herb is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Blair) Stevenson, whom he married March 22, 1958; a son: Gary Alan Stevenson (Angela Titus) of Noblesville, IN; a daughter: Cyndi (Dave) Fevang of Xenia; daughter-in-law: Brenda Stevenson; brother-in-law: Nolan Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and was anxiously expecting an additional great-grandchild. And last, but certainly not least, Herb is survived by their beloved dachshund, Fritz.
Funeral services will be held 7 PM Friday, February 12th at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Pastor Linda Davis officiating. Friends may call from 5:30 PM Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.
