Ruth Haney, 97, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, Ohio. Since 2012, she had been living with her daughter Nancy in Mark Center and Linda in VanWert.
Born on January 10, 1919 in Cecil, Ohio, Ruth was the daughter of the late Ray and Bertha (Glassmire) Gordon.
Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Antwerp High School.
In 1951, she was united in marriage to Albert Haney and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2001.
Ruth attended the Bethel United Methodist Church. She worked at Magnavox in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for 32 years. After her retirement she helped her husband farm.
She was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Magnavox, and the Fairview Grange. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards and her family.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Darwin) Schroeder of Mark Center, Linda (William) Ames of VanWert; five grandchildren, Tony Schroeder, Tina (Caleb) Yoder, Jeremy (Katie) Schroeder, Billy (Wendy) Ames, Joy (Tim) Vaughan; eight great grandchildren, Jacob Yoder, Oakley, Canon and Graham Schroeder, Eli, Asa, Jax and Lia Destiny Ames.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Harry Gordon; and two sisters, Grace Gordon and Emma Morhart.
Funeral services for Ruth will be Saturday at 11:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Paulding County, Ohio.
Memorial may be made to Crippled Children & Adults Society, CHP Hospice, or donor’s choice.
