The Lady Panthers travelled to Bluffton University on Tuesday, February 16 to take on #7 seed Delphos Jefferson Lady Wildcats. The girls basketball game started with the Wildcats coming out strong scoring 17 points. While Paulding wasn’t bad it only earned 12 with top points coming from Allison Arend and Bri Townley from field goals.
The second period was the one that gave Jefferson the strong lead it needed. Their defense cut into the points that the Panthers could have earned. Four points were earned and all of these by Audrey Manz. The half ended at 16-33.
The second half was a different match when Paulding came on strong, outscoring Delphos in the fourth and tying in the third. The points score wasn’t enough for the Panthers to claw their way back up though and the game ended 39-53. If the girls could have played as well in the second period as they did the other three, they would have moved on to the sectional championship game.
