Four members of the Archer yearbook staff along with their adviser Mrs. Amy Sorrell attended the Columbia Scholastic Press Association spring convention at Columbia University in New York City from March 16-18. The students included seniors Annie Miesle, Brittany Smith, and Mikayla Boesch and junior Becca Johanns. During the convention, the group attended sessions and met with former Columbia Scholastic Press Association president Mary Kay Downs to get a critique and to learn about entering into national competitions. The staff plans to submit the 2016 yearbook to two national contests next year.
The students also did a lot of sightseeing on the trip. The first night in New York, they went to Top of Rock (the observation deck of Rockefeller Center) at sunset. They went to the 911 Museum, Times Square, a Broadway production of Wicked, and went on the NBC Studio Tour and the Circle Line boat tour to see the Statue of Liberty.
The group fundraised for a year and a half to defray to the cost of the trip.
