Defiance – At 4:43 PM, The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Watson Road and Fullmer Road in Highland Township, Defiance County. The crash involved a pick-up truck pulling a trailer and a motorcycle.
A 2013 GMC 3500 HD pick-up, driven by 58 year old Phillip J Wagner of Defiance, was traveling eastbound on Watson Road. A 1984 Honda VF 700 Motorcycle, driven by 34 year old Joshua Zimmer of Defiance, was heading westbound on Watson Road. The GMC pick-up turned left onto Fullmer Road, and was struck by the motorcycle. The pick-up continued off the right side of Fullmer Road. The motorcycle came to rest on the roadway.
Phillip Wagner was transported to Defiance Regional Hospital by Highland Township EMS. Mr. Wagner was wearing his seat belt. Joshua Zimmer was pronounced deceased at the scene, he was not wearing a helmet.
The Highway Patrol was assisted by Defiance County Coroner, Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, Highland Northwest Township Fire Department and City of Defiance EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
