Antwerp Spring Sports Award Winners

The Antwerp High School presented the awards for its spring sports season on Tuesday, May 17 as school winds to a close and the graduates say goodbye for the last time.

For varsity baseball, Trey Mills was awarded the Offensive MVP award and Dylan Peters was named as the Defensive MVP. Coach Zac Feasby was well aware of all the players and the talents they brought forth to the team and announced that Justice Clark was the only 4-year letter winner on the team. Hunter Noel was presented with the newly created Leadership Award.

For softball, Heather Barnhouse presented the Offensive Award to Sidney Barnhouse with a batting average of 3.85 while Avery Braaten earned the Defensive Award with pitching 90 innings this year. Emily Derck received the Leadership Award. All the seniors (including Beth Hawley and Sierra Cline) picked up the 4-year Letterman’s Award. Sidney and Avery both were announced as GMC 2nd Team, while Emily was named GMC Honorable Mention.

This year has been outstanding for Track and Field with Sam Williamson named the male MVP and Audrie Longardner named Female MVP. Coach’s award went to Annie Miesle and Brandon Laney. Most Improved was selected for Aaron Romero and Maggie Wilson. The 4-year letter winners included Erik Buchan, Audrie Longardner and Sam Williamson. Sam recently broke GMC records in both 1600m and 3200m, and a new AHS record in the 800m was 1:59.6 seconds. “Outstanding!” according to AD, Drew Altimus.

Superintendent Dr. Miller presented the Rotary Awards to Austin VanAtta, Emily Derck, Erik Buchan and Kirsten Price.

Scholar Athletes receiving their first Archer Arrow awards this year included Hunter Noel, Emilee Phillips, Matt Jones, Mike Taylor, Josh Poulson, and Hope Smith. Annie Miesle received her 10th letter on this evening.
