The New Haven United Methodist Church has a dedicated group of women, the UMW Qults of Valor Ministry, that come together regularly to piece together quilts with a patriotic theme. Those quilts are then donated to military veterans and/or their families. This year those creative ladies where asked to design and create a quilt celebrating the Sesquicentennial of the city of New Haven. The New Haven Sesquicentennial Quilt will be on display at the New Haven United Methodist Church in the Narthex for the congregation and public to view from May 29 through June 9, 2016 during office hours. (M-W 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, F 8:30 a.m. to Noon) The New Haven United Methodist Church is located at 930 Lincoln Highway E. To find out more about the New Haven United Methodist Church. The quilt will then be taken to Schnelker Park and placed on display from 4:00pm to 9:00 p.m. on June 10 (Friday) and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Saturday). Members of the UMW Quilts of Valor Ministry will be available to answer any questions you may have about the quilt. They will also have quilted items such as hot pads, cozies, and quilts for sale that will help fund their mission of making patriotic quilts for veterans. After Canal Days, the quilt will be permanently displayed in the New Haven Community Center behind McDonalds (former US 30 drive-in and USMC Hall.)
