Woodlan scored early and often Friday night in Lagrange as the Warriors routed Prairie Heights 53-0 in week two of the high school football season.
In what was a dominating effort on both sides of the ball, the Woodlan offense totaled 496 yards in the contest.
However, the Woodlan defense was even better, limiting the Panthers to 35 yards of total offense.
Woodlan’s defense opened the scoring with a safety before the Warrior offense took over.
Tre’Von McCarter caught touchdown passes of 49, 48 and 16 yards to lead the Warrior attack and quarterback Justin Durkes finished the night of 18 of 21 passing for 249 yards, including four touchdowns.
Donald Guerrant also had a ten-yard reception for a score with Jack Rhoades rumbling for 205 yards on 20 carries.
Woodlan took control of the game early on, opening a 27-0 advantage after one quarter of action before pushing the margin to 33-0 at the intermission. The Warriors posted a 46-0 lead entering the final stanza.
Woodlan returns to action on Friday as the Warriors will host Allen County Athletic Conference rival Heritage in the home opener.
The Patriots are 1-1 on the season after a season opening 42-0 loss to New Haven before last week’s 27-13 win at Norwell.
In that game, Heritage’s Jeshua Foser ran the ball 32 times for 254 yards and a pair of scores to lead the Patriot victory. It was the sixth consecutive time that Heritage has beaten Norwell.
