Rubie Helen Meredith, 82, of Bluffton, IN, passed away at home Saturday, September 10, 2016.

Rubie was born in Antwerp on July 13, 1934, a daughter of the late Dollie (Woods) and William  Jordan.

She was a 1952 graduate of Antwerp High School and a 1961 graduate of Lima School of Practical Nursing. Rubie worked in local hospitals, nursing homes and private duty nursing. She volunteered at Meadowvale Rehab Center, Bluffton.

Rubie was a 38 year member of the Eastern Star, Van Wert Chapter; attended the Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel & TOPS Chapter 0132, Bluffton.

She freely gave of her time to many organizations, including aiding in the preservation of wildlife and the Water of Life that helps to dig wells abroad. It gave her great joy to assist in freeing 5 Christian slaves from the Sudan and teaching Sunday School at Mount Victory Church in Van Wert. Rubie loved to travel and write poetry.

Rubie will be missed by her daughters, Willowdean (Thomas) Vannette of Bluffton, IN & Virginia (the late Charlie) Neace of Antwerp; siblings, Stanley Jordan & Grace (Ray) Gross, Sr., both of Antwerp; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
& church granddaughter, Mpho (Grace) Mokoena of South Africa.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Meredith, whom she married May 1, 1965; son Ollie Davenport; step son William Meredith, Jr.; brothers, James & Jack Jordan; grandson, Merle Meredith & great granddaughter, Angel Marie Davenport.

Viewing is 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Wednesday at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp, Ohio.

Her funeral service is 11 am Thursday at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, with viewing one hour prior.

She will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery.
