Paulding Elementary fifth grader, Brendan Weidenhamer was recognized on Friday, September 16th at a special ceremony held at the school for his bravery during a recent house fire where he, his mother, and grandparents lived. The fire started approx. 2:00 am while everyone was sleeping. Once Brendan was safely outside, he realized his grandmother was still in her bedroom. He wanted to go back into the house to rescue her but the fire was too great. Brendan and his grandfather tore the air conditioner out of her bedroom window and pulled her to safety through the window. EMT and Firefighter, Dave Foltz came to the school to present Brendan with a special ceremony and letter from the Paulding Fire Dept. as a way to thank him for acting quickly and making a wise decision for his bravery and courage.
A benefit will be held on October 7th, 3PM-11PM at the Paulding Eagles. All proceeds to help the family with expenses.
