The Wayne trace boys football team traveled to Fairview on Friday, September 23 to take on the Apaches. The game was very difficult for the Raiders, and the Apache successfully defeated them in every aspect of the game.
The game started much closer with Fairview’s Luke Breininger scoring the only touchdown in the first with Ian Groves scoring 2 in the point after attempt, making the score 8-0.
The second was where the Apaches ran away with the game. Zach Hess ran 79 yards on a fumble recovery right after the 2nd period started. The next points were from Breininger again on a 5 yard run, adding to the score and the rushing yards. Next, the Raiders got on the board for the first time with Trae Sinn passing to Caleb Schultz scoring at 5:34 on the clock. Fairview’s Ian Groves scored the next touchdown returning the Raider kickoff. He ran 76 yards and scored with 5:21 on the clock. The last touchdown before half time was by Luke Breininger’s 56 yard pass to Austin Meyer who drove through the resistance to score. The half finished 33-6 with Fairview taking a strong lead.
In the third quarter, Wayne Trace was able to stop the Apache offense and, for the most part, keep it under control in the fourth. Timmy Timbrook scored within seconds of the start of the final quarter. The final touchdown was scored with only 20 seconds left on the clock with a pass from Nate Gerber to Gabe Sinn.
