On Friday, November 4th, the New Haven Bulldogs continued on in the playoff tournament and took on Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. Bishop Dwenger was the 2015 IHSAA State Champions in football. In this game, they had to defeat New Haven and move on in hopes of reclaiming their title.
As the game began, the Bulldogs took the lead in the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns. However, the Saints weren’t far behind, as they managed to break through the New Haven defense and score a touchdown. Within the second quarter, the Bulldogs added another touchdown. Their defense was also on point, as they prevented Bishop Dwenger from bringing the ball to the end zone for a touchdown. The Saints, however, did manage a field goal, adding three more points to the score. By half time, the score was 21 – 9, with New Haven holding a decent lead over Bishop Dwenger.
When third quarter started, both teams came back with a fiery passion. They both needed this victory to move on, but only one could claim it. The third quarter was a stale mate, as neither team was able to score. The fourth quarter got tough for the Bulldogs. The Saints were dominating the quarter, adding two more touchdowns. New Haven was not giving up yet, though. The Bulldogs scored another touchdown. The game finally came to a close with the New Haven Bulldogs rising above as the victors.
