As reported in the Defiance Crescent News on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. It was noted that the Village has open burning hours until 5:30 p.m. during the week and on Saturday and Sundays at 8:00 a.m.
Please note this is NOT CORRECT. Discussion was held during council meeting on Monday, November 21, 2016 that the sewer plant compost for the drop off of LEAVES ONLY was open during the week until 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sundays, weather permitting. During rain and/or snow events, the gate will be closed at the sewer plant. Once the village has received its permit from EPA, hours and types of vegetation that will be accepted at the compost site will be advertised. Until that time only leaves can be accepted at the former drop off site which is south of the sewer office. Please note leaves in plastic bags can not be dropped off. Also concrete will never be accepted and can not be dropped at the sewer plant. If you have questions on what can be dropped off at the compost site, once it is opened, please contact the village administrator at 419-258-2371.
Please note open burning inside the village corporation limit is confined to recreational burning only, and not for the disposal of leaves and/or branches.
