Ethan Linder Broke the School record tonight in career points. Linder broke the 24 year record held by 1993 graduate Rob Welch with 1737 points. Linder now has 1741 and will continue adding up to the end of the season!
Like his brother Corbin who several years go broke the school 3 point record, Ethan Linder was very close to taking this record before this game with only 36 points needed to tie and 37 to overtake.
This game from the beginning was not a friendly match. The game was full of anxiety and tension on both sides, and the referees failed to keep the game under control. At times it looked more like a wrestling match than a boys basketball game.
During the first period, the home team was on top of the game with the Bulldogs trailing behind. As Ethan Linder was working on his career points, he was also adding to the home team advantage with 3 pointers all over the court. Brady Stabler also was doing well with 2 pointers and three pointers. Dustin Miller on Edgerton’s side of the court was also at the top of his game. He made 3 point baskets and 2 point field goals for the Bulldogs.
In the third quarter, the game was a struggle—physically and emotionally. There were times 5 players were on the ground at the same time. It’s not like it used to be when you couldn’t touch another player at all or it would be called a foul. This time was hard to tell where the fouls were coming from because there was so much barnyard play happening. Both coaches in this time had technical fouls called on them by upset referees. And that’s all I have to say about that.
It was the fourth quarter before Linder was able to break the record and he did it with a 3 point basket. You can watch the video recorded by West Bend News either on Facebook or Youtube of the shot. Fans cheered to watch this momentuous occasion. Congratulation Ethan! This was a high scoring quarter for both teams with 24 for Wayne Trace and 25 for Edgerton.
