It’s been a great start to the year for your Antwerp Conservation Club (ACC). We held our first event on New Year’s Day. It was a shotgun Ham Still shoot. It was attended by many shooters of all ages. Shooters came from all over the surrounding area, Antwerp, Hicksville, Payne, Woodburn, Auburn, Ft Wayne, Sherwood and Defiance area. I had the opportunity to talk with some of them. I was surprised to hear that many had never been to our facility. Some did not realize that our club existed. Once they seen our club, they were impressed. Your club officers, trustee’s, Range Chair Personnel and membership are working hard to make this a great place to be.
On New Year’s Day we had perfect weather for our shoot. 60+ shooters showed up for the noon start time. The target boards were selling fast. It was quickly realized we needed more hams. We shot 17 groups of 12 shooters. The winner of each group won a ham. We had several scatter boards that you could buy a cross-hair on. The cross-hair with the closet hole by it would win a ham or money.
Hot sandwiches, chips, homemade cookies and hot/cold drinks was served by club members. It was appreciated on such a nice winter day. As shooters sat down and ate, they were discussing the days of when ACC used to hold these events. Others discussed how they really liked what the club had to offer, the friendly atmosphere and the enthusiasm shown by those hosting and attending the event. Many of the attendees asked when we will do this again. We will be discussing this at our monthly meetings and setting up the dates for future events.
This is the start of a new year and a new look for your ACC. We have recently added a new logo to our weekly advertising. The logo was designed by the great staff at Westbend News. Your ACC will be keeping you up to date on upcoming events by using our weekly ads, our Facebook page, member email and our NEW WEBSITE to be online soon. If you are interested in being a part of the ACC, come out and join us at next meeting or event.
