Senior night for Wayne Trace’s only senior – Danae Myers – was on Tuesday, February 7 against the home game against Continental. Danae Myers has been playing varsity for 4 years now for the Raiders and has been one of the start players the entire time. Her teammates certainly will miss her as her high school career is quickly winding down. Good luck to Danae on her future and plans.
The game against Continental wasn’t really much of a contest. The JV game was only 2 quarters due to not having the Pirates not having the players to complete the game, going straight into honoring Danae before the varsity match started up.
First period started with Wayne Trace having 6 points within the first 30 seconds when they full court pressed and Claire Sinn stood near the basket dropping in the ball. Myers was there also chipping in points. The Raiders continued pressing and quickly the score was 13-2. Pirates’ Amber Logan wasn’t done and she was able to push back on the pressure. Not enough to turn the tide but to stop the crush. The first half ended 41-19.
The second half of the game wasn’t quite the maelstrom but it was still close. You will see that Kaylee Shepherd had a good night too snagging 6 field goals and making 50% of her free throws. Myers’ height once again out paced everyone in rebounds—both offensive and defensive enabling her to get the ball to her team mates. The game finished 76-29.
