In celebration of Read Across America, Payne Elementary held their annual Book Exchange. Title 1 teacher, Mrs. April Krouse once again planned this event for the school to promote literacy and encourage students and staff to love all different kinds of books. This year many of our staff members helped out by participating in morning announcements and sharing with the students their favorite books they read while growing up. Our cooks, bus drivers, principal, librarian, and fellow teachers all volunteered to share their books with the students. We were also honored to have our all-time leading AR point holder, Jacob Stouffer join us. While in elementary school he accumulated over 1,000 AR points!!
Students were encouraged to bring in up to 4 books for the exchange this year, with extra donations accepted as well. Students and teachers both made donations, and we gathered close to 1,300 books!! The classes enjoyed choosing books from their favorite author, topics, and genres. Mrs. Krouse appreciates all the help that went into this exchange and looks forwarding to planning next year’s event!
