The Woodlan High School Show Choir, Warrior Ambition, ended their competition season as Grand Champions in the Small School Division at the Huntington North Midwest Showcase held at Huntington North on Saturday, February 25th. Woodlan was also awarded the “Best Band” award. Other highlights of the competition include senior, Brock Burkholder, winning the solo competition and sophomore, Logan Salzbrenner, being named as the “Outstanding Performer.”
The Show choir is an audition only choir that is 41 students strong (including performers, crew, and band), directed by Mr. Kyle Romine, and accompanied by Mrs. Kaylene Sauer. Woodburn’s own, Nikki Prichard, is the group’s choreographer.
This year’s show titled “Home” portrays life in a small town followed by big city possibilities. The show choir used backdrops of nostalgic historical icons of the Woodburn and Harlan communities, such as Harlan High School, the Woodburn water tower, Zion Lutheran Church, and the Junction 24 sign. The following are the awards received during the completion season: Bellmont Winter Spectacular- 3rd Runner-up, Kage Kurtz “Outstanding Performer”, Franklin Showfest-Rochelle Faul “Outstanding Performer”, Homestead Classic Showcase-Best Band, Kage Kurtz “Outstanding Performer”, Northrop Classique-2nd Runner-up, Jordan Lawson “Outstanding Performer”, and Carroll Classic-Evan Garver “Outstanding Performer”.
