Mrs. Wilder’s 5th grade social studies students at Payne Elementary had the opportunity to participate in the Van Wert Elks essay contest. In December the Van Wert Elks lodge chose winners, from 306 entries. Those winners were then sent to the district competition. The district finalist were chosen in February. We are proud to announce that Cooper Wenzlick was chosen as the 1st place district winner and Brooks Laukhuf was chosen as the 2nd place district winner. The Wayne Trace community is extremely proud of this accomplishment and the effort the boys put forth. Cooper Wenzlick has also been chosen as one of the 3 finalist to be sent to the state competition! We are awaiting those results. Mrs. Wilder, Cooper and Brooks were all invited to a youth breakfast this spring. They will be presented with an award at this time. Congratulations to Cooper and Brooks!
