OAKWOOD – Leroy M. Halter, 81, of Oakwood died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born May 28, 1935 in Mandale to the late Michael and Susan (Hammons) Halter. On November 27, 1959 he married Edna Ladd who survives in Oakwood.
Also surviving are two children, Dan Halter and Debbie (Anthony) Butler both of Oakwood; five grandchildren, Bobbie Jo (Brad) Fuller, Tony (Amy) Butler II, Danny Joe (Sarah) Halter, Christina (Brett) Anderson, and Michael (Brandi) Halter; nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Katlynn, Gracie, Griffin, Lilly, Sierra, Addy, Molly, and Jackson; and a sister, Ruth Fifer of Van Wert. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna J. Halter; two brothers; and three sisters.
Leroy was retired from General Motors, Defiance and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Twin Oaks United Methodist Church, Oakwood and the Defiance VFW. Leroy was a US Army veteran.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at Twin Oaks United Methodist Church, Oakwood with Rev. Feltz officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Twin Oaks United Methodist Church.
