The Woodlan FFA and Heritage FFA Chapters of the East Allen County Schools hosted a two day Kindergarten Farm Tours event on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28. Sixteen area schools with 1,500 students and teachers attended this event. K-Tours includes the very hard and diligent work of 105 FFA members from both the Woodlan FFA and the Heritage FFA chapter, who plan, organize, solicit and conduct all of the demonstrations and everything connected with running of this event. FFA members demonstrate their SAE projects while the other member’s serves as tour guides helping each group go to the 15 different stations.
Many community organizations are involved in the K-Tours event. The Woodburn Missionary Church allows the buses and student vehicles to use their parking during K-Tours. A local Farm Bureau representative attends. Horizon Bank donated water for members, and soil for the horticulture demonstrations. Ag. Board member Shane Muma grills and prepares the food on both days. K-Tours takes place at Woodlan FFA Ag. Board member’s farm; the Vicki and Rodger Hadley’s family farm. The farm couple graciously host this major event through the use of land, barn and building space to display the SAE projects for the kindergarteners. Indiana State FFA Northern Region Vice President Sneha Jogi also attended and participated in K-tours adding to the excitement of this year’s event.
