The flagpole is up! The flagpole was put up by hand at the North Scipio Community Veterans’ Memorial on April 22, 2017, to proudly display the American flag and honor our veterans and our country.
The 26-foot tall flagpole is made of aluminum. Bracing was welded to the bottom and then bolted by hand to the base plate with 11/8-inch bolts. The concrete foundation is three foot by three foot and is four feet deep. The memorial was built to last 100 years. The sponsoring organization is North Scipio United Methodist Church (circa 1840) to which has promised to care for the memorial for the next 100 years.
