HARLAN, INDIANA: Oliver Jay Stieglitz passed away suddenly Thursday morning June 29, 2017 at the age of 89.
Oliver was born April 16, 1928 in Gridley, IL, the son of George and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Stieglitz. His family moved to a farm in Harlan, IN, in 1932 and he resided in that area the rest of his life. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, baptized on October 9, 1949 at the age of 21. He married Emma Jean Anliker on June 10, 1951, and they were blessed with five sons and two daughters. God blessed them with 66 years together. Oliver fully enjoyed his farming occupation. He also enjoyed woodworking and blessed many in his family circle with his talents. He was a willing participant on many mission work teams over the years and always loved spending time singing around the piano.
Surviving are his wife Emma Jean; four sons, Jerry (Amber Hanlin) Stieglitz of Rome City, IN; Jeff (Betty Dix) Stieglitz of Harlan, IN; Steve (Jane Weiss) Stieglitz of Harlan, IN; Greg (Lisa Hege) Stieglitz of Noblesville, IN; two daughters, Sue (Randy) Gasser of Livonia, MI and Marcia (Justin) Koch of Morton, IL. Also surviving are one sister, Lavada Stieglitz of Leo, IN; one brother, George Stieglitz of Harlan, IN; a sister-in-law, Joan (Marvin) Stieglitz of Spencerville; 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, four brothers (Harold, Russel, Morris, Marvin) and three sisters (Lenora Stoller-Sorg, Eleanor Strahm, Imogene).
Funeral service at Latty Apostolic Christian Church, 12867 Road 82, Paulding, OH 45879 on Monday, July 3 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Latty Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall, at the same address, on Sunday, July 2 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, 5:00 – 8:00 PM and an hour preceding the funeral service on Monday.
