Krystal Albright of Paulding, traveled to Ohio State University June 23-25 to compete in the 46th annual Special Olympics Summer Games.
Special Olympics Ohio currently has more than 26,000 athletes. These athletes competed in their area competitions and a little over 10% of them advanced to Ohio’s State Summer Games.
Krystal competed in cycling, a sport that she loves. On Saturday she raced in three races, the maximum amount you could enter. She was in the 1 mile, 3 mile and 5 mile. All of Krystal’s practicing, hard work and sheer determination paid off when she placed first and won the Gold Medal in each of her events.
She was also entered in the stage race where her race accumulative times were compared to all the other Ohio female cyclists accumulative times. She placed first in the stage race and was awarded the trophy for “Female Champion Cycling 2017”.
Krystal is glad that Paulding Special Olympics sent her to the state competition and is honored and proud to return home with the State Champion trophy!
