Join the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Wood County Park District for a “Canoeing with Crawfish” program. This is Paddle Ohio event features a canoe float on the Maumee Scenic River, Saturday, August 12, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Float down the Maumee Scenic River with Wood County Park District naturalists and ODNR stream scientists for a scenic and informative float. Stream quality monitors will demonstrate how to evaluate the health of a waterway by investigating the macroinvertebrates that call the river home.
Participants will meet at Otsego Park, located at 20000 W. River Road in Bowling Green. Previous canoeing experience is highly recommended and participants must be 14 years old to paddle without an adult in the same boat. Pre-registration is required and closes Thursday, August 10. The Paddle Ohio initiative rewards individuals with a commemorative pin each time they paddle four different Ohio wild, scenic and recreational rivers, water trails or select state park lakes. Pins are available for paddlers who paddle four, eight, 12, 16 and 20 different segments of designated waters.
