Paulding, Ohio—As of 1:30 p.m. today, the search continues for escaped Paulding County Inmate Branden Lee Powell, age 32, an Antwerp, Ohio resident.
Agents from the FBI, US Marshals and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are currently assisting local authorities with this search. The US Marshals have offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of Powell.
The current search involves canvassing the area, speaking with residents in the area and following any leads coming into the office. There are no road closures at this time.
“Our team of local, state and federal agencies continues to follow tips coming into my office,” said Sheriff Jason K. Landers. “We are working around the clock to apprehend Mr. Powell. I cannot express enough gratitude to all of the folks that have reached out with support in various ways.”

Powell was booked in the Paulding County Jail July 8th on allegations of Rape. On July 13th he was admitted into the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Powell overtook the transport deputy on the return trip to the Paulding County Jail on August 4th. While still restrained in a belly belt restraint system and leg shackles, Powell was able to take possession of the deputy’s duty weapon prior to the escape.
Powell is considered armed and dangerous.
