The 12U Woodlan Sluggers had the opportunity to travel to The Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge, TN and they had an amazing week. The week included several baseball activities with many other 12U teams from across the United States and Canada. The players were very fortunate to meet and hear from newly inducted baseball hall of famer, Tim Raines, on opening day.
During pool play, the Sluggers went 4-0 defeating teams from Canada, Texas, Michigan, and Ohio to earn the number 4 seed in the Gold Bracket for the tournament. In the first round of the tournament, the Sluggers defeated the #2 Conway Hawks from Florida in an exciting and excruciating 9 inning game to advance to the semi-final round. In the semi-final round, the Sluggers played the nationally ranked Cyclones, from New Jersey, and experienced their first and only loss of the week.
The Sluggers did extremely well; placing in the top four of the twenty-two 12U teams in the tournament.
The Woodlan Sluggers are currently gearing up for their 2018 season. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact us at woodlantravelball@yahoo.com.
