The Antwerp Conservation Club had a busy weekend. The club held three events over the weekend. A Curly Fry booth, 22 pistol shoot and a Hunter Education Class.
The club ran a booth at the New Haven Maumee Valley Antique Steam and Gas Show August 19th and 20th selling curly fries and raffle tickets for our Henry Golden Boy 22 Rifle. The booth was open from 10:00 a.m. to closing each day. Many club members helped operate the booth and kept things running smoothly. Members took turns at the different stations to allow people to get experience before the Flat Rock Fall Festival. Members also helped spread the word of our upcoming events to be held at the club. Aaron Kohler was promoting the Practical Tactical 2 gun Match scheduled for October 7th at 8:30 a.m. This is a fund raiser is for the Marines Toys for Tots of N/E Indiana. To learn more about this event, event flier, sponsorship or donate, contact Aaron Kohler at aaron.kohler@yahoo.com. Other events being promoted was the upcoming Still Shoots being held on November 5rd and December 3rd. These still shoots will be fund raisers for Christmas for kids of Paulding County. The event fliers are being developed and will be out soon. To learn more about these events, sponsorship or donate, contact Gary Mabis at garyamabis@gmail.com.
The club held a 22 pistol shoot on Saturday August 19th. Registration opened at 11am with the first shot at noon. Multiple stages were set up to challenge each shooters abilities. These type of shoots are designed to get shooters out to practice the safe handling of their firearm and target acquisition. The targets used were paper silhouette, water balloons, water filled pop cans, polymer targets, steel targets Texas Star and pistol poker game board. Some stages have the participant moving from one point of cover to another. A shot timer is used to record the time it takes for each shooter to complete the course of fire. This event is held on the third Saturday of the month from May thru October.
A Hunters Education class was held on August 19th and 20th. This class is for both youth and adults. All first-time hunting license buyers, except apprentice license buyers, must successfully complete a Hunter Education course before purchasing a license. This class is led by certified volunteer instructors/club members. Participants must pre-registered through Ohio DNR. This a free class sponsored by Ohio DNR and held at our clubhouse.
It takes a great group of dedicated member volunteers to put an event. It takes even more to do this many things in one weekend. To all of those who helped put on these events over that weekend, a big THANK YOU is deserved.
