Crews Deployed To Georgia Tuesday
Paulding Putnam Electric Co-op (PPEC) sent crews and equipment to assist in Hurricane Irma recovery efforts. The storm has created widespread property damage with more than 6 million without power in the southeastern part of the country
Currently, PPEC sent 4 of their linemen to help in the efforts. They will be assisting Mitchell EMC located in Camilla, Georgia. The linemen are expected to be gone for at least 10 days.
“We take care of needs at home first, but our crews are eager to help those in need,” said Operations Manager Ted Slusser. “They take tremendous pride in representing Paulding Putnam Electric. They will represent us well with how hard, professionally and safely they work.”
Ohio Electric Cooperative, Paulding Putnam Electric’s statewide organization is spearheading the efforts to send in line workers from all over the state.
“First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been impacted by Hurricane Irma. We also want to wish our volunteers who are going to assist cooperatives in Georgia safe travels and working conditions. Nearly 70 linemen from Ohio will be heading south to provide assistance to our sister cooperatives. It is very humbling to see the Principle of Cooperation Among Cooperatives work to help others,” said George Carter President and CEO.
Meanwhile, Paulding Putnam Electric Employees, are organizing a drive called Project Hurricane Help to help the victims of the storm. The goal is to fill a semi with non-perishable food items on September 22nd from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at PPEC’s headquarters located at 401 McDonald Pike in Paulding, Ohio.
