Woodlan split a pair of volleyball matches last week as the Warriors fell to cross-state rival Wayne Trace in 5 sets before beating Allen County Athletic Conference rival Adams Central in 4 games. It was a late night for the team.
On Monday, the Lady Warriors went to the maximum number of games before visitors Wayne Trace posted a 16-14 victory in the decisive 5th set when the game went into overtime.
Woodlan won game one 25-18 in before the Raiders took games 2 and 3 by scores of 25-22 and 25-23. The Warriors defeated Wayne Trace 25-17 in the 4th set.
Evelyn Shipley paced Woodlan with 17 kills and 4 blocks while Addie Bayman dished out 38 assists. Katelynn Dyer posted 34 digs for the Lady Warriors and Katie Chin chipped in 2 aces.
In ACAC play, Woodlan and Adams Central split the first 2 games before the Warriors posted a 25-21 victory in both set 3 and set 4 to win the match.
Woodlan defeated the Flying Jets 29-27 in the opening set before Adams Central took game 2, 25-23.
Katie Hockemeyer topped Woodlan with 11 kills with Bayman posting 25 assists and Taya Kitzmiller recorded 23 digs. Addie Wasvick added 5 blocks for the Lady Warriors while Clare Yagodinski served a pair of aces.
The Warriors are now 7-11 overall on the season and 2-1 in the ACAC. Woodlan returns to action on September 19 when they visit Heritage.
