Charles Keith West first ran for the Village of Antwerp Council seat in 2013, and after he was selected by the voters to serve, he started in January of 2014. Since then, West has been on the council through meetings of various ideas put forth by different council members who learned to work together to come to a consensus for the betterment of the town.
Charles, known to folks as Keith, was born and raised in Antwerp and, through the years, has stayed, watching the town change with the times, some for the better and others not. He graduated from Antwerp High School with the class of 1964. West served in the United States military from 1966-1969 in Korea.
He retired from Paragon (Spectemp) in 2008 after working there for 22 years. Prior to this, he worked at the Paulding County Sheriff’s office for 15 years.
On the council, Keith has worked with the other members to make the community better. “It’s interesting to see that the six of us have different ideas and come up with a consensus.” stated West. The last four years have not only been a way to make the community better, but a growing experience for him.
Keith is a member of the VFW and a Life member of Antwerp Conservation Club, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
Keith and his wife, Joyce, have four grown children — Tim Copsey, Dan West, Aaron West, and Rachel Ousley. They also have 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
West seeks re-election for the council seat in the Village of Antwerp. He is available to talk to if you have any questions or concerns.
