This past week has seen a significant change in the Antwerp Conservation Club’s Pistol Bay.
Safety at the club has always been a priority. To improve the safety at the club’s pistol bay, a new dirt mound wall was installed along the south side of the original bay and the existing north wall was extended out almost to the parking lot. There has been a plan in the works for a while to add a second pistol bay. That day came last week. When enough dirt had been moved to improve the safety of the original pistol bay, we started the construction of our new pistol bay. The backstop was the first area to receive dirt. Next was the north wall. While the dirt kept coming, the backstop and walls kept growing.
These kind of improvements would not have been possible without the efforts and dedication of our members and local businesses. This was made possible with the help of Brooks and Jim Pendergrast (Pendergrast Farm Drainage of Antwerp), Gary Mabis (Mabis Farms), Mark Savage (Savage Excavating of Hicksville) and the officers and trustees of the club.
These range improvements will allow the club to hold more action shooting sports. The first event being held in the new and improved bays will be the Marines Toys for Tots Practical Tactical charity match on October 7th at 8:30 a.m. Next will be a Centerfire Pistol Match on October 21st starting at noon. More events will be coming in 2018. These advertised events are open to the public. Check our weekly ad in the West Bend News for all upcoming events.
We are a local organization that is on the move. We are growing and expanding. We will be bringing you more exciting events and opportunities to practice firearm safety and training in 2018. 2018 memberships are available now.
