On Saturday, October 7 area people made the Paulding County Habitat for Humanity a successful date for this year’s Hog Run. This year the Toledo Road Runners worked to make this a very professional and successful run to help Habitat. On this day over $11,000 was raised and they will soon know an exact amount.
The Hog Run is an annual event that that the Habitat for Humanity puts on for Paulding County to raise funds for helping to build housing for low-income families. The mission of Habitat is to build a safe and affordable home. You can find a Habitat home in Antwerp, Paulding, Oakwood, Melrose and Haviland.
As the families pay their mortgage, Habitat then has funds available to put toward the next house. Even though this is a good system, monies do not come in that fast and thus the organization must do various fund raisers. That’s where the community can help.
The Paulding County Habitat for Humanity Hog Run was raising funds at the Paulding County Fairgrounds where the event took place.
The Hog Run is a 5K, or a 2 mile walk or a bike ride. Children, strollers, pets were all welcome to come with parents, grandparents, friends and sitters.
Winners of the contest includes: Tyler Reese – Overall Male; Sandy Sanders – Overall Female; Oldest master male – Marlin Short; Oldest master female Pam Reese; Youngest finisher male Malachi Wenninger; Youngest Finisher female Bella Wenninger. In the 12 and under category the top three females in order were Anna Meraz, Libby Meraz, Bella Wenninger. The top three males in the 12 and under were Tavin Sholl, Eli Reinhart, Dayne Sholl.
It was a fantastic time and lots of people contributed to help Habitat for Humanity work in this community.
