On Friday, October 20 the Hicksville Aces travelled to the Raider field with both teams competing for the Green Meadows Conference Title. It was a another beautiful evening out on the concourse of the greenway. Very impressive weather considering this is the ninth week of High School football. The Raiders where out in full force, but it was hard to get traction when the Aces defense were so willing to hammer the home team.
Jacob Greer from Hicksville passed to speedy Payton Tunis who scored a 39 yard touchdown with less than two minutes into the match up. The pair brought another touchdown on the score board in the first before the period was over making the game 0-14. Payton Tunis topped the match for the Aces with 7-200
The second period arrived and Tunis was once again the scorer on a 3 yard run across the line. The Raiders were not down and out yet as they came back with the ball and Trevor Speice made a 5 yard run to get the first points for the home team. Aces took possession back of the ball and Hicksville’s Jacob Greer came back with the final point of the half when he ran across the line and the half time score was 12-28.
The third quarter proved to be another cornucopia for Red. Jacob Greer passed to Payton Tunis who ran all the way to the end zone. Continuing on scoring was Aces’ Mason Commisso on a 65 yard run downfield. The Raiders added no points to the board in the third and the score ended up 12-42.
The last score of the game was in the 4th period with Eli Sinn receiving a pass from quarterback Nathan Gerber.
Both teams lost the ball twice on interceptions. Wayne Trace racked up 271 yards while Hicksville added up 449 for the offense. Wayne Trace is now 6-3 and the Aces are 7-2 overall.
Next Friday Hicksville will be playing their final game of the season hosting Ayersville. Wayne Trace will be traveling to Tinora for their final game of the season. More pictures at westbendnews.net
