Amarion Hicks ran for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Woodlan Warriors to a 40-26 win over North Newton Friday night in IHSAA Regional action.
The victory sends the Warriors to the semi-state where Woodlan will visit Eastbrook for the right to play in the state championship on November 25 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Warriors and Panthers will square off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17.
Justin Durkes added 78 yards on the ground for Woodlan (11-2) while Isaac Meyer added 40 yards on 8 carries.
Hicks had touchdown runs of 65, 47 and 51 yards for the Warriors while Durkes scored on carries of 18 and 31 yards. Meyer also had a 1-yard plunge for a score that started the scoring for Woodlan.
The Warriors led 14-0 after 1 quarter before posting a 27-18 halftime advantage. Woodlan took a 33-18 lead into the fourth quarter.
UP NEXT: Eastbrook comes into the semi-state contest with a perfect 13-0 record and the Panthers finished Central Indiana Conference action at 7-0.
The Panthers have posted 4 shutouts defensively on the season in victories over Elwood (65-0), Madison Grant (64-0), Oak Hill (64-0) and Blackford (63-0). Five other times, Eastbrook has allowed 7 points or less this season with wins over Huntington North (49-6), Alexandria (54-7), Greentown Eastern (56-7), Rensselaer Central (21-3) and Lewis Cass (28-7).
Other victories for the Panthers were over Norwell (54-13), Mississinewa (42-21), Frankton (56-12) and Lapel (56-26).
Eastbrook head coach Jeff Adamson is in his 29th season at the home of the Panthers, posting a record of 255-83 overall.
The other semi state game in Class 2A will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when Indianapolis Scecina Memorial (12-1) takes on Southridge (11-2) at Arsenal Tech High School.
