The Antwerp Pharmacy has been a fixture for many years in this small community. After many years of service, not only in the Pharmacy, but in organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Mike and Belinda Renno have sold the business and said, “good bye” to Antwerp as they have retired. Mandy Miller has taken over ownership and operations of the small town business.
Mandy graduated from Paulding High School in 2004 and went to school at Ohio Northern, graduating in 2010 as a Pharmacist. After school she was hired at HeartLight Pharmacy in Lima, Ohio where she worked there as a Nuclear Pharmacist until two weeks ago, when she transitioned to Antwerp. Nuclear pharmacy is a specialty area of pharmacy practice dedicated to the compounding and dispensing of radioactive materials for use in nuclear medicine procedures. A specialty area of pharmacy practice is one that requires a concentration of knowledge in a once specific area.
Two years ago Mandy and Caleb moved to the Antwerp area, but she had been traveling third shift every night to Lima for her job. This will be much less stress by only having to go a few minutes from home.
Mandy has a lot of Pharmaceutical experience and that will be able to help the Paulding County community tremendously.
Mandy (Donaldson) married Caleb Miller, also a PHS grad, in 2007 and they have 4 children—Bradyn 5; Deacon 2; and twins Whitney and Deana 1. Her mother is Betty Lane and her father was Dave Donaldson (deceased).
Mandy and Caleb enjoy the great outdoors! Riding motorcycles and camping are just a couple of their fun activities!
In time there will be new offerings to take place at the Antwerp Pharmacy such as immunizations right in the pharmacy. Another thing to be added to the already full featured pharmacy is Medication Therapy Management. Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is medical care provided by pharmacists whose aim is to optimize drug therapy and improve therapeutic outcomes for patients. Mandy realizes that this is an important component to patient care. One last thing she said may be added in the future is compounding. She herself has experience with this, but Antwerp Pharmacy does not. Very few pharmacies compound, but having that option could be good for some patient needs. She said, “We will continue to accept most insurance here.” Insurance has been a problem in more recent years in the US and having a company that works with your insurance is always good news!
Miller stated that the Hardware will continue to be open and operate as usual.
Even though we will miss Mike and Belinda, it’s great to have such a young and caring Pharmacist take over the stalwart business!
If you have any questions about your medication or the Pharmacy, be sure to stop in. Mandy and her staff are always helpful with a smile!
