The Delphos Jefferson Wildcats travelled to Wayne Trace on Saturday night, January 13. The games Friday night were cancelled, but the weather was much better for this match. The game started strong and clearly in the DJ favor as they were able to hit 3 pointer after 3 pointer. As in previous games though, the Wildcats quickly tired out and the Raiders were able to make headway in the second quarter and by halftime the difference was narrowed entirely with a score of 24-26.
Eli Sinn hit three 3-pointers and helped turn the team around in the first half. Nate Gerber also was hitting the three pointers left and right! Nate was also able to pickup a couple steals.
Jake Kuhn was also looking impressive this night. He was able to pickup points under the basket. Both teams’ height were helpful and Wayne Trace was able to use that better the entire game rather than just the first quarter.
After the comeback in the second quarter, the Raiders continued in their triumphant march with Nate Gerber leading the way. The home team posted an impressive 27 points in third and pretty much sealed the win for the Raiders.
During the fourth quarter, both teams were similar in scoring and the game finished at 68-54 and Wayne Trace defeated the Wildcats!
The Raiders are now 9-2. The next game for Wayne Trace is a conference match on January 18 against Fairview at home.
