A Message From POTACC

Who in the world is POTACC? Another name used for the President of the United States is POTUS. I thought I would have a little fun this week. As of January 1, 2018, I became the new President of the Antwerp Conservation Club (POTACC). Many members have congratulated me on my new position as president. Some have greeted me by playing “Hail to the chief”. It’s all in fun and I appreciate them for thinking so highly of me.

As the new president, my first order of business is setting the agenda and dates for the upcoming year. 2018 is going to be a much busier than 2017. We are adding some new events, continuing some past events and adding more of our latest new events held at the end of 2017.

On January 27, 2018, we are holding a training class on the safe handling and processing of wild game meats. This class will start at 6:30 pm. We will be serving different cuts of meat prepared in multiple ways. This is a FREE class open to the public. All ages are encouraged to participate.

One of the major new additions is our club being the host club for the Paulding County 4-H Shooting Sports club. Area youth will be utilizing our facilities to hold meetings, practices and competitions. This opportunity is available to all area youth that meet the requirements to join 4-H. To learn more about this, contact the Paulding County 4-H office at Schweinsberg.5@osu.edu

This year we are offering two $400 scholarships. These are available to area seniors attending local high schools (Antwerp, Fairview, Hicksville, Paulding, Wayne Trace and Woodland) and heading to college. Applications will be available at our website and your guidance offices soon or by contacting me at garyamabis@gmail.com. They must be completed and mailed to the Antwerp Conservation Club by April 15th. We are holding Still Shoots for next few months on the first Sunday of the month at noon to help raise money to support our scholarship program.

I could go on about all our upcoming events for 2018, but that would be a very long article. Keep an eye out for more messages from POTACC. Watch for our ads in the West Bend News. Check out our website antwerpconservationclub.com and our Facebook page to see the latest news and listing of events. One more note, all of our advertised events are open to the public and to all ages. Come out and check out all the things we are doing.
