Vantage Career Center will hold an Open House and Taste of Vantage on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:30 pm to celebrate National Career and Technical Education Month, which runs through February.
This year’s Open House will highlight the 17 high school programs as well as the Ohio Technical Center adult education programs and is open to the public. “Vantage welcomes guests to our building so members of all of our participating districts have the opportunity to see and experience what our students do every day” according to Community Relations Coordinator MaryJo Wilhelm. “This is a chance for prospective high school students and their parents, along with current students and parents, community members, alumni, and interested adult learners to see what opportunities are available at Vantage.”
All of the career technical labs will be open and students will be demonstrating their skills throughout the evening. The OTC staff will have a table set up in the Commons to showcase their programs. Guests will also be able to visit the OTC office, labs, and classrooms.
Career technical education is a strong force that contributes to the support of the local economy. It allows high school students an opportunity to be work and college ready, graduating with industry certifications and credentials, college credit, and hands-on experience in their field. For adults who are unemployed or looking for a career change, the Ohio Technical Center @ Vantage provides an opportunity to change a career path in a short amount of time, for a nominal amount of money through workforce education.
“A Taste of Vantage” will again be held in the Commons Area during Open House. Seven area restaurants will be offering a delicious sampling of some of their most popular cuisine. For just $5 at the door, you can purchase a strip of 6 tickets. One ticket will get you one food sample. All proceeds support the Vantage school-wide student activity fund. Try some pizza from Puckerbrush Pizza from Payne. Enjoy a variety of meatballs from Van Wert’s Black Angus on Main. Grilled wings are on the menu from Millie’s Café from Ottoville. Taste a pork slider from Gibson’s Barnyard BBQ from Convoy. Warm up with a cup of coffee and a sweet treat from Baked To Perfection from Delphos. The Vantage Culinary Arts program will be serving their fabulous homemade Mexican chips and salsa. For dessert, try a mini ice cream sundae from the Paulding Dairy Queen. DJ Ron Burt from Magic Moment Entertainment will be the emcee for the evening and will announce the special demonstrations and activities going on throughout the building.
