WOODBURN – The game at Woodlan on Saturday, February 17 started with senior night for the boys basketball team and the cheerleaders. Those honored were the following:
Cheerleader, Cassidy Schneider, daughter of Jennifer and Richard Schneider. Her activities involved at Woodlan include soccer, softball, NHS, cheerleading and student council. She plans to attend Ball State and eventually law school.
Basketball manager, Collin Kindinger, son of TIm and Beth Kindinger. His activities at Woodlan include basketball manager for 3 years and Marching band for 4 years. He plans to go to IPFW and major in occupational therapy.
Basketball manager, Sam Krahn, son of Mike and Amy Krahn. His activities involved at Woodlan include 4 years of basketball managing. He plans to attend IPFW and major in communications/public relations.
Basketball player, Lucas Bertsche, son of Mike and Amy Bertsche. His activities at Woodlan include 4 years of basketball and 2 year member of National Honor Society. He is still unsure of what college he wants to attend or what to major in.
Basketball player, Matthew Elias, son of Jim and Amy Elias. He has played basketball all four years and he plans to study at Purdue University Fort Wayne and obtain a degree in business marketing and economics and business administration in finance.
Basketball player, Aaron Hahn, son of Gary and Stephanie Hahn. He has played basketball all four years, football his junior and senior years and a member of the National Honor Society. He is still undecided on a major and a college at this time.
Basketball player, Ah’Lan Howard, son of Moketa Howard. He has been in football, basketball and track & field. He plans to go to a college far from Woodlan and study sports management.
Basketball player, Micah Robbins, son of Jim and Tami Robbins. He has played basketball all 4 years, interned for the famous Nancy Patton, and a part of WMC Youth Group. He is uncertain of local college/university or trade but plans to pursue fitness and strength training and see how long his mom and dad will let him stay home, rent free.
Norwell made the trip to Woodburn on Saturday night in non-league boys basketball and the visiting Knights went home with a 67-62 victory over the Warriors behind 29 points from Will Geiger.
Woodlan was on top 20-17 at the end of 8 minutes of action before the Knights rallied to take a 34-33 advantage at the midway point. The Warriors answered by outscoring Norwell 18-13 in the third quarter to grab a 51-47 margin going to the fourth quarter.
Micah Robbins had 14 points to pace the Warriors with Ah’lan Howard chipped in a dozen markers.
Aaron Hahn also posted 11 for Woodlan followed by Lucas Bertsche (8), Aiden Bayman (5), Ben Reidy (5), Mitch Mendenhall (4) and Matthew Elias (3).
