DEFIANCE – Antwerp pulled away from Hilltop in the final 3 quarters as the Lady Archers rolled to a 52-20 victory over the Cadets in Division IV girls sectional basketball action at Defiance High School Tuesday.
Neither team was able to grab a strong foothold in the first period. The Lady Archers led only 9-8 after one quarter but dominated the final 3 periods.
Antwerp outscored the Cadets 19-4 in the second stanza to push the margin to 28-12 at the break.
The blue and white then extended the margin to 44-14 at the end of 3 periods before coasting to the 52-20 victory.
Rachel Williamson bucketed 21 points for the Lady Archers with Hope Smith bucketing 13 and Chelsea Johanns posting 8.
Heather Oberlin (5), Ashley Miller (4) and Charity Roebel (1) rounded out the Archer scoring.
Morgan Nordern topped the Lady Cadets with 8 points and Morgyn Siegel chipped in 5.
Taryn Grant had 3 markers while Audrey Funkhouser and Emmi Ryan had a basket each for Hilltop.
