Sarah Higbie had three singles and Katie Taylor added a pair of singles to lead the Montpelier Locomotives to a 5-2 win over Antwerp in non-league girls softball action Monday night.
Brooklyn Dye, Keiylee Bentley and Kennedy Caudill all had singles as well for the Locomotives, who improve to 5-3 on the season.
Higbie also picked up the win on the mound for Montpelier, giving up seven hits and striking out five in seven innings of work.
Alyssa Fuller suffered the loss for Antwerp, striking out five while allowing six hits, three runs and a walk in four innings. Carlie Hanes tossed the final three frames, fanning eight hitters while surrendering two hits and two runs.
Heaven Bruce posted two singles to lead the Lady Archer offense with Alyvia DeVore adding a triple.
Hanes, Rachel Williamson, Brooke Hatlevig and Rebecca McCroskey posted a single each for Antwerp.
