ANTWERP – The Lady Archer softball team of Antwerp punched its ticket to the district tournament on Thursday as the blue and white nipped Edgerton 3-2 in sectional championship action at Antwerp.
Carli Hanes pitched the Lady Archers to the district, striking out five and limiting Edgerton to six hits in the contest while throwing a complete game. Hanes also walked six Bulldogs in the contest.
Tiera Gomez and Callie Perry picked up a double each for Antwerp with Rachel Williamson recording a triple. Hanes also had a single and a double for the blue and white.
Hannah Sleesman and Ally Cape each had doubles for the Lady Bulldogs with Bella Cercone posting a single and a triple.
Sleesman suffered the loss for Edgerton, which drops to 8-12 on the season. The Bulldog pitcher struck out two while walking two and giving up five in six innings on the mound.
Coach Ordway was quite pleased with her team’s accomplishment, “Great game tonight. We had three double plays and out bats were alive. Super proud of our team.”
