Woodlan FFA members competed in the State FFA Poultry Judging contest recently held at Battle Ground Middle school located near Purdue University. The Junior Poultry team of Olivia Schaefer, Haylee Basting and Luke Ketzler placed 3rd in state competition at the Junior level competition. They will be receiving a team plaque at the Indiana FFA State Convention for finishing in the top three overall teams. The Woodlan FFA team of Emily Tripp, Dakotah Krohn, and Bailey Nickell placed 6th overall. And the Woodlan FFA team of Riley Zent, Hannah Franklin, Ckloe Ely, and Lydia McCagg placed 8th in the FFA State team Poultry judging contest. The poultry contest consist of evaluating seven different areas in poultry production. Areas of evaluations include: egg grading, carcass grading of chickens, and turkeys, and judging live production hens.
