HAVILAND – The Wayne Trace ACME baseball team posted a pair of victories on Friday as the Raiders swept a doubleheader from Tinora.
The Raiders nipped Tinora 10-9 in the opener of the twin bill before recording a 5-2 win over the Rams in the nightcap.
In game one, Wayne Trace scored twice in the first and three more times in the second to grab a 5-4 advantage after two innings. The Raiders then opened the game up with a five-run fourth to extend the margin to 10-4 after four frames.
The red, white and blue then held on for the win as Tinora scored four times in the sixth and one in the seventh to set the final score at 10-9.
Drew Forrer got the win for Wayne Trace, tossing five innings while allowing seven hits and six runs (three earned). Forrer also struck out five Tinora hitters.
Reid Miller led the Raider offense with a single and a double while Cameron Sinn and Haydn Gillett both posted two singles. Forrer added a triple and Cameron Monroe posted a double as well for Wayne Trace. Caleb Yenser and Reece Thompson both recorded a single as well.
Game two saw the Raiders use a three-run third to pull away for a 5-2 victory over the Rams.
After each team scored once in the first, Tinora briefly led following a single run in the second to make it 2-1. However, the red, white and blue answered with three runs in the bottom of the third to grab a 4-2 advantage.
Wayne Trace then completed the scoring with the game’s final run in the fourth.
Reid Miller picked up the victory for the Raiders, throwing 3-1/3 innings and giving up one hit, one walk and one run.
Gillett topped the Wayne Trace offense with a single and a triple while Forrer and Thompson added a single each as well.
