Eleven graduates from the Northwest State Community College Law Enforcement Academy were honored during a special ceremony, held last evening in the Atrium. The class successfully completed both the state certification exam and the physical fitness requirements of the program. Current graduates who have taken the Ohio Peace Officer Training Certification examination achieved a 98% first-time pass rate, which is a requirement to become a law enforcement officer in the State of Ohio.
The following graduates were recognized:
Defiance County: Austin Beckett (Defiance), Agustin Hinojosa (Defiance), Austin Little (Defiance), Eric Rubio (Defiance), Jared Sanchez (Defiance)
Fulton County: Christine Fouty (Delta), Noah Quintanilla (Archbold), Jacob Whitcomb (Wauseon)
Henry County: Tyler Murrey (Napoleon)
Williams County: Adrian Brown (Montpelier)
Wood County: Ryan Kohlhofer (Walbridge)
Several students from the graduating class received additional recognition. Eric Rubio was presented with the Top Gun Award for earning the highest score on the firing range. Tyler Murrey earned the highest score on his Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) test, with a 93% score on the 200-question test. Austin Little was awarded the Top Driver Award for excellence in numerous testing scenarios behind the wheel. Adrian Brown received the final individual award of the evening, the prestigious Deputy Allan D. Ohlrich Outstanding Cadet Award.
The Northwest State Community College Law Enforcement Academy is an eight-month program that is offered annually. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 5:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. A new class is forming now and is scheduled to begin in August.
