The John Paulding Historical Society is growing! The building expansion project is currently underway. Barn One is being expanded approximately 50 feet. Kim Sutton, President of JPHS remarks “It is very exciting and has been a long time in the making. We have been setting money aside because we knew in the future we would have to expand. With those funds and with the grant we received from the Ohio Facilities Construction Committee we are seeing Les Weidenhamer’s vision for this building expansion project come true.” She went on to say “The success of JPHS wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the support of our membership, our volunteers and most importantly, the support of the community. We hold fundraising events throughout the year and the profits we make keep the museum open and free to the public and have enabled us to grow into the future!”
Hartzog Lumber is the general contractor and Scott Strahley is the engineer for the project. Work is expected to be completed by the end of July or the first of August. The actual displays to be exhibited on the inside after completion have not yet been determined. “We are still in need of funds to finish the inside and complete the exhibit and climate controlled office area” said Sutton. “We are seeking donations towards the project so that we will be able to finish the inside and set up new exhibits. We are a 501(c)(3) and any donations are tax deductible.”
