Paulding County Hospital (PCH) is pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Murtagh Jr. will be providing urology care at PCH. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine at The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at the University of Toledo Medical Center (former Medical College of Ohio) where he recently completed a Urology Residency. He is a member of the American Urological Association and recently sat for the American Board of Urology examination.
Dr. Murtagh will be conducting a clinic every Tuesday where he will be performing testing and surgery as needed. He will focus his practice on issues related to the urinary system including kidney stones, urinary retention, urinary incontinence, female pelvic floor issues, prostate conditions, etc. Many urology conditions can be treated through medications while some such as pelvic floor issues can be treated by physical medicine. Some bladder conditions may benefit from implanting an electronic device called a bladder stimulator that is like a pacemaker for the bladder.
Other conditions may require surgical intervention. Due to advances in techniques and equipment many of those procedures can be performed as Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). Using endoscopes and lasers the surgeon is able to operate through a natural opening resulting in less discomfort and blood loss. Dr. Murtagh is also trained in robotic surgery that can be performed at another facility.
Dr. Murtagh also has physicians to provide services in his absence. Drs. Buck, Khan, and Mostafa are urologists associated with Dr. Murtagh through their group practice the ROMIUS Institute of Northwest Ohio. Persons wishing to make an appointment at the urology clinic may call 419.399.1136.
