The Antwerp Chamber of Commerce sponsored their final Grab Your Neighbor and Explore Your Downtown for 2018 on September 10th. This last event was multi-faceted as the Chamber goal is to encourage residents to shop and explore downtown Antwerp. The vacant building adjacent to H2O had home business vendors displaying their wares. Many of the Main Street businesses extended their hours to allow customers longer browsing time. In front of &Junque, Small Town Bliss were offering free nail painting.
The Chamber had a Pay It Forward table where residents could donate non-perishable food items to be added to the local food pantry. Many items were donated to the food pantry at the Methodist Church. The anonymous winner of the drawing donated their $20 Chamber Bucks back to the food pantry.
Antwerp’s First Annual “Westminster” Dog Show was also held on this evening in the parking lot of Dr. Sarah Mowery, DDS in downtown Antwerp.
The Paulding County Dog Kennel will be receiving $105.00 in cash and 6 bags of dog food and various bones, biscuits and sqeaky toys from all of the entrants participation.
There were two categories for which to enter a family’s best friend – small dogs and big dogs. The small dogs entered included: Gracie Sue, Oakley, Sugar, Honey, Nala, Charlie, Ruby, Ginger and Willow.
Big dogs were the following: Aurora, Quackerz, Cash, Lady and Baloo. The judges had a difficult time awarding all these talented and beautiful creatures prizes because they were all great! Our most honorable judges: Kate Watson, Lauren Barrand and Caleb Miller along with our great MC Mike Schneider did a superb job.
Best in Show was awarded to Quackerz. Quackerz is owned by Braeden Hormann and Rylee Zartman. Quackerz was interviewed by MC Mike Schneider. She is a 3 year old black lab and lives with her humans, Braeden and Rylee. The thing she loves best about her humans is that they rub her belly and give her treats constantly. Her idea of a great day is playing with antlers. She prefers the Animal Planet to HGTV and her favorite table food is ice cream. She does not snore when she is sleeping and her favorite place to take a nap is in her kennel. She loves belly rubs vs ear scratches and when asked which shoe she loves to chew on she answered – I don’t like to chew on shoes. Congratulations Quackerz!
